MATTEO GRAZIANI WON THE PROLOGUE OF THE RALLY DI SARDEGNA AT LIDO DI CAMAIORE

Matteo Graziani on Ktm (Il Team) won at Lido di Camaiore the prologue of  the 21st Rally di Sardegna, a Super Special disputed in Località Magazzino in the famous tourist locality of the Versilia, chosen this year for the start of the World Championship trial in Sardinia.

The mighty Italian champion, who has already won the Sardegna four times (in 1997, 1998 and in 2001 and 2002) seems therefore determined not to stand in awe of the pilots who precede him in the World Ranking and to try to win again for the fifth time. This year the prologue was valid also for the General Classification, and according to tradition, who wins the prologue is destined to the final victory. In any case the champion of Forli is now in the lead of the general classification, even if with few seconds of advantage. Right behind him, the Portuguese Ruben Faria on Yamaha (Lagos Team), the French vice-champion of the world David Casteu also on KTM of the Team Anabas and Jose Manuel Pellicer on KTM of the Profiltek Burn Team. Only sixth the champion of the world Marc Coma, winner of the last two editions of the Sardegna and already in the lead of the 2007 World Championship, after winning the Rally of Tunisia. But Marc Coma remains the man to beat. Matteo Graziani is fourth in the World Championship Classification, David Casteu second and Jose Manuel Pellicer is fifth.

Tomorrow Wednesdays May 2nd, the Rally lands in Sardinia. At  7.00 am the caravan will arrive at Golfo Aranci and then towards Olbia from where the first true stage of the  competition will leave, the Olbia-Gavoi (km. 316), with one single special test of 88 kms.

The arrival in Gavoi, in via Roma, is expected from 1.30 pm.
